It's true. Our second full-length French Exit will be officially released with Flameshovel and Pretty Activity on November 4th of the year of our lord, two thousand and eight. There's some songs from it up now on our myspace and we've got videos, b-sides and all of that on the way.
In the meantime, the NYC-area crew should come out to the record release party for our good friends Rahim this Thursday at Pianos. Check the shows page for more details.

We're going to into the studio next week to finish our second album. Hopefully we'll have new songs for you real soon.
In the meantime--eat, drink, and be merry.
Happy Holidays,

Hey everyone. We just had our CMJ showcase picked up for a spot on MTV News with our buddies The Subjects. Check it out.

Next Thursday, August 30th, we'll be playing over at New York City's own Mercury Lounge along with MGMT, Stylofone, and Ferraby Lionheart. Hell of a way to ring in your Labor Day weekend.
Till then.

We just got back from doing fives shows with a team of rapscallions known formally as The Subjects. There was basketball in the pool, a six-part sing-along to “Streetfighting Man” at a college house and daily skateboarding lessons. It was short, but who are we to turn down a chance to visit Chicago – our musical home away from home? Our show there at the Hideout, easily one of the best venues in the country, was ‘such triumph.’
We continue to work on our new record and soak up some of the last moments of that summer-in-the-city feeling. In the meantime, Snowghost Music has some rough mixes of songs and video that may illuminate what’s in the future for us musically. Until then.

We’ve just arrived back from touring and recording on the west coast. We completed over half of a new record at Snowghost Studios in Whitefish, Montana with resident gentleman Brett Allen. New songs include “Kate’s Dream,” “I Don’t Want To Lose,” “Section House,” “The New Rage” and a few untitled numbers. There will also be exclusive songs and video up soon on the Snowghost site.
We have some pictures of our adventures through Montana and along the Pacific Ocean in the Photos section of this site. If it’s not obvious from looking at them, the trip was filled with indulgence – in no small part due to relentlessly gracious hosts and hostesses everywhere we stopped. We were also traveling with The Narrator, which doesn’t hurt.
In the next few months we’ll be playing shows out to Chicago, doing a session with Daytrotter, working to finish the record, and playing sporadically in the city. There are several dates on the Shows page now. Come out and say hello.

Saw the first robin of spring a couple of weeks ago, things are looking up. We'll be out west in June, so we'll tell the details once we know them.
Writing for the next record is going well. Before we skip town, we have a show next Saturday night at the lovely Union Hall in Park Slope.
And as we get into summer, remember what Mr. James said:
"Summer afternoon - summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language."
Be good.

We've been hiding out a little and writing songs, but there's a couple of important things we have to say. First, our ally Nat Johnson has made an unbelievable video for our song "Show Your Age"
You can view it on You Tube or watch and download a higher resolution version here.
We've also announced some new shows and will have some more appearing in the next few weeks. We're particularly excited to be joining our friends and labelmatesThe Subjects for a party celebrating the release of their debut full-length. If you're in New York, we hope to see you there.

Happy 2007. The Onion is ringing in the new year by saying some nice things about our record. You can read it here.

The Holiday season is here and we're keeping ourselves busy buying presents and writing songs for our second record. New York City's still a cold place in the winter, and it feels all right.
Tour was a real treat and Cursive and The Cops are the greatest. Click here for our new photos section, including many great shots from the tour. In other important news, our buddies The Subjects will be putting out their great record this February on Pretty Activity. Keep an eye out. Cheers.

Our debut full-length You're Making It Come Alive is out now on Flameshovel and Pretty Activity Records. It was recorded at the Key Club Recording Company with Bill Skibbe and Jessica Ruffins (Fiery Furnaces, Weird War, Cass McCombs). We're really proud of it and hope that it finds its way into your hands and ears. The record was designed by Michael Schmelling and it is really stunning. Nautical themes abound. Click on the links for either label to purchase a copy.
We're also streaming the entire record here.
